Diamond Rocks, South West Clare coastline, Kilkee, is probably one of the most popular dive sites in Ireland. Named after the small rocks in between Intrinsic Bay and Duggerna Rock that glisten in the sun because of its abundance of quartz. The north west facing bay is sheltered from the prevailing southwestern winds, making it a quite sheltered scuba diving site.

You can enter Diamond Rocks by boat but also along a walking path that leads to Lookout Hill. This dive often starts with an exploration of a great shallow 6 to 9 meter deep reef. Through some narrow entry and circular holes, one can enter the stepwise cascading 30m deep valley or gorge, situated in between the shallow reef and shore. It has many cracks and crevices, all filled with invertebrates and other stunning marine life. Divers mention the 'snake pit of crabs' and call it one of Europe's best dive sites.
